Art and About at the Farmers Market.

So Heather and I hung out at the farmers market with a few of our chairs for charity. It was super fun...we gave out tons of fliers...met lots of cool people....and are going back in a couple of weeks to do it again! We have 65 chairs already! It is going to be a good good time. The auction is October 27th in conjunction with the small fall art tour. I can't wait! Hope to see you there...oh and there is still time to donate a decorated chair just bring it into Persimmons!

Sometimes it is the small things.

So I love love love these little posies that I cannot find anywhere anymore. They must still make them somewhere so if you are out there and know if I can still get them please please let me know where. Oh I got this little bunch this morning at an estate sale I popped into on my way to Stumpjacks for a sweet deal. One shiny dime. I also got a really scary santa that makes me so happy. I will most likely make some cards with an image of him on them and sell them in my etsy shop. Watch for them. Actually I could make them now and sell them for Halloween because he is that scary.

My Fall Garden.

beautiful berries from the vines next door that have graciously adorned our fence.
Zinnias...love em
I totally have been neglecting my yard in general for the last few months. Luckily I picked very low maintenance plants that have taken over caring for themselves. The garden still looks beautiful. I need to take more time to enjoy it.

Sillyboodilly

Here is my new and latest purchase from etsy. It is from a very like minded lady who has the greatest business name...Sillyboodilly.
Her name is Chloe. I am in love with her and can't wait to take my sewing class at our local quilt store Quilts and Silks. I don't really know how to sew from a pattern at all. Well I did do it in Jr high in home ec. but that was a really long time ago! I am excited and I will have the coolest pin cushion in the whole class I am sure of it.

My new toy.

Oh I got a new toy and I LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE it. It is a Zutter bind it all machine. It is little lightweight and works so easily it is freaky. I also got the dream cutter that cuts paper down to size very precisely and again freaky easy. So how it works is you stick the paper in the machine it punches the holes...then you put the binding on and squish it in another part of the machine and wahla...a journal. I am so happy I will finally get to use all those game boards and covers of kids books that are left after using the rest of the parts for collage projects. My first one is an old seashore book. As you can see in the top of the binding it will take me a little bit to get it down great. I sort of smooshed the top a little too hard. Oh well.

The coffee shop next door.

Here is Premier Cafe that is next to me. It is a cute little shop that was originally a hamburger stop in the 1930's. It was made by basically bricking the front and back and putting a roof on. The windows that were once on the exterior of our building are still inside the coffee shop. Makes for a good smelling shop and house sharing a brick wall with them. We are kind of numb to the smell now but when people visit they always notice it. I made some business cards for them yesterday using this picture. Mine have been so well received that I thought they should have some too. They paid for the bulk of them with cash but I will get paid for my time in coffee..:)
They are having some good music there on Friday night... Eric Nassau and Megan Palmer. Hopefully it will be nice out so they can have it outside on the patio because with an 8 foot wide building it can get a bit cramped with music. We get to sit on our patio in the backyard and enjoy the music too. It is nice. So if you are around Friday night stop in and check it out.

Making stuff happen today.

Whew it has been a good busy day today! It started with a nice breakfast with my buddy Heather. When I did get to the store it was a day of tying up a lot of loose ends which is really a good feeling. I did find some time to paint part of another chair for the upcoming Chairs for Charity Auction! I can't wait for that night! It is a You are my Sunshine theme. Not done with it yet I want to make it really detailed.
I have to go get my little cutie pie now a longer post tomorrow I promise.

Lil beading corner

So here is the new beading area...I put all the beads in fun containers like teacups, spice jars, tins and coasters so it is just a hodge podge of containers and beads...kinda matches the rest of the store. Behind where I was standing to take the picture are a couple of tables where people can sit down and do some designing. It looks so much more cluttered in the picture but really it is cozy and just fun. If nothing else it is nice just to have all the beads out and in my face it inspires me to create some funky jewelry.

Beads beads and more beads.

So I talked to my friend Annette Monday and she mentioned something about a bead show in Green Bay. Even though my hours have been pretty erratic because of my virus and such, I decided I needed to take a couple of hours off and go. The bead store in town is going out of business soon and I have been thinking about getting a few beads here. So I am starting with a small selection of fun and unique semi precious stones. So you can come and design your own jewelry, play at the earring bar or have a jewelry party for you and your friends. Stop on in and check it out.

Here's what's going on.

Ok I went to the nurse practitioner on Tuesday because I have been getting hives and my joints hurt and then that morning I was really sick and just feeling really yucky. My heart feels like it is racing all the time and I really just cannot focus. So she did tons of tests to make sure I didn't have a stroke or anything else serious. My blood pressure is really high which shouldn't surprise me it runs in my family wicked. Well I went home with no clue what was wrong and high blood pressure that made me think I was going to explode. Well Wednesday night feeling ok but I wake up at 1am sure that I am dying! I really thought I was having a heart attack. So we went to the emergency room. I had a very bad acid reflux episode. Oh man I thought I had heartburn before but apparently not. So they gave me drugs...a bunch of things in a lovely little malox drink, tylenol, vicadin, and a blood pressure pill...and sent me on my way. So I closed the store Thursday and decided I was just going to go by my mom's and rest. The nurse calls that morning and tells me my test results came back and I have a virus. It's the same virus that kids get called fifth disease. It is kind of like chicken pox if you get it as a kid no big deal but as an adult it can cause an infectious form of arthritis. The doctor she consulted with wants me to go on prednisone. ARGGGGG. I seriously don't know the last time I even took aspirin before this and in the last few days have had so many drugs in me it sucks. I asked what would happen if I don't go the wicked steroid route and she said the virus will eventually go away. So I go back Monday and will talk more about what I can do. To top it all off I stopped taking my birth control pills because I have noticed that since I started taking them is kind of when my crazy spinning head started and you guessed it I got my freakin period this morning ...1 week early. Makes me think that those pills really can screw up your system and I don't think I will take them anymore. I know drugs can be very helpful but enough already! I sound really pathetic I know and I hate being that person but it has really made me realize I need to stop trying to change everything I think isn't perfect and slow down and concentrate on what is important...my health and my family.

By the way Molly was a perfect little angel in the emergency room in the middle of the night for 2 hours watching me get blood drawn and all kinds of things hooked up to me. I love that little girl so much it makes me want to scream.

Taking a break

I am going to be taking a blogging break. I will be back but I just need a little time to focus on my health. I will keep the art night and other events updated on the right hand side but just cannot commit to daily posts right now. Come visit me at the store!

Time for a change.

I have not been feeling well lately...getting hives, weird pains in my hands, anxious and today I was really dizzy and just fainty. I finally had enough and went to the doctor. Good news is I have normal numbers on most everything except my blood pressure. It was really really high. I have to go back in 2 weeks to have it checked out again.
So no more fooling myself I am going to make the changes I need to make. Walking every morning and no more fatty foods (well maybe on special occasions). I need to take control of this because I plan on being around a whole lot longer.

HeHeHe I'm a little creepy clown.

I went to Stumpjack yesterday with my friend Chris from Outside the Box Gallery in Sheboygan. It was a nice little coffee break. We stopped at St Vinnie's in Two Rivers and I got a great little Dick and Jane book.. but that's all. Chris found an old bingo game and gave me the wood pieces:). We went to the Manitowoc Vinnie's too and I spent $28! I haven't been there for over a week so I found a lot of cool stuff including this creepy little clown. I am for sure making cards with this guy on.
